I received my first genuine trollish hate-mail. *sniff* I'm so *sniff* proud. The culprit is one Kirk Wilcox. Hey Kirk, which part of "please don't e-mail me again" do you not get? Here are some of the wonderful things Kirk has to say to me:

I suggest you do some research. Perhaps this will open your eyes to the manipulaion and lies being told in order to fool the public. Yes there are people playing games in the world.

Reading a book written by Chomsky is not "research." That is called "reading some one else's research." Further, what Chomsky does is not "research". What Chomsky does is a sophisticated version of the polemic. Just because he uses bigger words than Fox News, doesn't make it any less of a polemic. By the way, this blog is a polemic, since you obviously can't distinguish between my rants, Chomsky's rants, and "research."

read page 127-128 of Understanding Power. I will summarize: One of the false premises is the one you hold about "Israel being the only one that wants peace". This is the false doctrine of "arab rejectionism". That doctrine is as Chomsky explains in "Necessary Illusions" "... to present the United States and Israel as "yearning for peace" and pursuing a "peace process," while in reality they have led the rejectionist camp and have been blocking peace initiatives that have broad international and regional support."

You ever seen that movie with Ben Damon and Matt Affleck...I think it was called Good Will Hunting Two: Hunting Season? Anyhow, remember that scene where the Harvard kid is trying to make himself seem smart by quoting books and stuff? And how in reality it just made him look like a prig? Yeah, how do you like dem apples Kirk? Look, there is nothing really more to say. You read Chomsky. Big whoop. I've read Chomsky. I teach Chomsky. I'm not going to defend the media---I think Chomsky's theory in Manufacturing Consent is basically right--but let's not mix Chomsky's own illusions of the Arab street being just like you and me with empirical reality. By the way, I replied to Kirk with a number of rhetorical questions and then asked him to not e-mail me again.

Apparently, he didn't get the whole, "please don't e-mail me again" thang. From Kirk's second hate-mail to me:

I replied by asking him which point of "don't e-mail me again" does he not get and if he understands what a "rhetorical question was." From his third hate-mail:

No, can you expain it to me, what is is [sic] supposed to mean to me? You said ,"Please do not write again",what do you mean by that? Do you mean don't write anything on the Internet to anyone anymore? I guess Iam [sic] too slow to understand what you mean.

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought that being an expert on Chomsky you might understand normal linguistic construction? Like, stop wasting my time with your inane quotes and religious zeal for leftist paranoia. I get enough spam as it is.

My Brother, the War Criminal...

I was shocked and horrified over recent accusations of torture and abuse in Iraq. Allah, rightly, notes the utter humiliation of having your pants pulled down if front of G-I-R-L-S and the deep cultural roots of "pantsing" in the Middle East. Michael Cooper has an excellent photo-essay on how our atrocities compare to the little-itty-bitty things the Islamojawafascists do (note: not for the faint of heart). A rated PG version of the same thing is offered by Cox & Forkum. Misha tries to downplay the horror of being fooled into thinking you might die or having a G-I-R-L point at your pecker and laugh. Ace also wants us to have some "perspective". Obviously, Ace and Misha are only children.

I guess John Kerry was right all along--the US military is filled with a bunch of war criminals. I was relieved to learn that Amnesty International was on the case of this "pattern of torture".

The result of my awakening to the horrors of war was the realization that I had been the victim of systematic torture for at least 13 years. You see, for the first 13 years of my life my older brother committed horrors so great that they make the torture chambers of Saddam Hussein seem pleasant. What did my older brother do? Nothing short of the same things done to the poor innocent Iraqis by our criminal soldiers. I call on the International Criminal Court of Justice at the Hague to indict my brother, Jerry D. Shackleford, for war-crimes, violations of the Geneva Convention, and crimes against humanity. The following is presented as evidence against my brother:

a) On July 24th, 1979 my brother submitted me to humiliation in front of girls. I was at my best friends 8th birthday party--a mixed affair--when my brother "pantsed me". He then proceeded to point at my pecker and laugh saying how small it was. The girls also proceeded to join in. Being a Methodist, this is the worst humiliation a boy can have---equally as bad as a Female soldier pointing at your little pee-pee and far worse than the mass murder of Kurds, religious suppression of Shia Islam, or the cultural genocide of Marsh Arabs. I demand justice!

b) On August 15th, 1982 my brother tortured me at Campland by the Sea in Mission Bay, San Diego. He held my hands behind my back and told me that there were Great White Sharks all around the pier. He told me that if I fell in the water I would die. He then proceeded to throw me in the water as I shrieked like a little girl. Clearly this is just as bad as telling a prisoner they will be electrocuted if they fall off a box and much worse than ACTUALLY electrocuting prisoners to death. My brother belongs in jail!

c) On December 18th, 1984 my brother violated the terms of a cease-fire. While having an orange fight (yes, this means we would pick oranges and hurl them at each other) my brother called a truce because he "got some juice in his eye." While sitting down to catch my breath and wait for him to stop his girlie whining, he proceeded to heave an all out salvo of mandarin and naval oranges on my position while screeching, "I'll show you who the girl is you little pansy!" This is equally as bad as our troops firing, unprovoked, on those poor resistance fighters in Fallujah and much worse than roadside bombs, the kidnapping of civilians, or the execution of captured Coalition Troops. My brother is a war-criminal!

You see folks, our all volunteer military ensures that sadistic and sick SOBs, like my brother, will up and join the Army. They learn torture through the sick and demented American culture that allows older brothers to pick on younger brothers. They then bring their demented psyches to the military where they continue to commit the most heinous crimes imaginable. Don't get me wrong, though. Not every one in the military is a war criminal--like my brother. Ted Rall is right. The rest are a bunch of "sad idiots".

UPDATE: The Commissar reminds me that among our heinous war-crimes is forcing "simulated sex." I'm afraid on this count my brother is also guilty. On more than one occasion he made the universally recognized jacking-off signal of the clenched fist moving up and down while pointing at me. The result, of course, was that people thought I was pleasuring myself. Obviously this is just as bad as what our soldiers are doing in Iraq and much worse than the systematic raping of ethnic minorities or the ACTUAL sodomizing of prisoners. My brother is a pervert!

America Surrenders--Yes, this is Vietnam

Mark my words, this will not be seen as anything less than a complete victory for those engaged in killing American troops. If the last two centuries of warfare have taught us one thing, it is that the enemy must be completely humiliated before they accept that they actually were defeated. They live in a world where anything short of complete and utter destruction is seen as a victory. What should we have done to Fallujah? Does the word Dresden mean anything to you?

So what will be the result of this settlement if the report pans out? More American deaths. Look how Syrian President Bashar al-Asad reacts to our attempt to "win the Arab street" by not totally annhialating our foes"

The armed operations against the American occupying forces in Iraq [constitute] a legitimate resistance because it represents the majority of the Iraqi people," he said.

The only way to win the Arab street is to convince them that resistance is futile, so to speak. We assume that our holding back will be received as some sort of gesture of magnanimity. It will not. If this is what you were seeing in the news, wouldn't you want to resist our efforts too? As a matter of fact, if our action in Iraq were as bad as the Arab press made them out to be, then resistance would be justified! We must have the political will to do the things necessary to win this war. In the hierarchy of liberties, freedom of the press is way down the ladder. Protecting lives is at the top. Yes, shutting down ant-American media sources will not be well received by liberals. But so what? The alternative is losing.

So, what are our prospects for turning Iraq in to a semi-stable, semi-democratic, semi-liberal state? Not-good. The news out of Fallujah is a cue that Washington has begun to micro-manage efforts on the ground. It is a cue that we are not willing to go all the way in seeing this thing through. It is a cue that we care more about what the French think about us than doing the awful things necessary to win a war. It is a cue that the same forces that lost Vietnam are alive and well---and in charge.

In sum: Yes, this is Vietnam.

VDH on lies, damn lies, and the left

VDH rebutts some common myths in his column. Read the whole thing, it's brilliant. Here are his myths that he refutes, along with my take:

Myth #1: America turned off its allies.
This one pisses me off because it assumes that international affairs are about discourse rather than interests. This is what I call the alchemy theory of international relations. The theory is that somehow, if we had just said the right thing, the entire world would have backed our efforts in Iraq. Say the magic words, and somehow the interests of nations change from lead to gold. Abra-cadabra-ali-ali-oxen-mus, France all your foreign policies are belong to us!

Myth #2: Democracy cannot be implemented by force.
Earth calling Germany? Earth calling Japan? Hello? Any one home?

Myth #3: Lies got us into this war.
Did we make mistakes about the WMD situation? Yes. Were they lies? No. Saying Bush is a liar because of bad intelligence and faulty assumptions on Iraqi WMD is like saying that Newton is a liar because "we now know" that his physics were off. Its a lazy intellectual exercise in ad homonym attacks on Bush's character.

Myth #4: Profit-making led to this war.
*Snooze* Yeah, this is just plain dumb. It's not even a testable theory. Those who believe this believe everything is about profit-making. Name an event or problem and the cause is the same: capitalism! Then they always point out, "What about Ike's worry about the military-industrial complex? Eh, what about 'dem apples?" Which is a really pathetic answer. Just because the possibility exists for military suppliers to want to cash in on bigger military budgets does not mean that war is necessarily motivated by the desire to make profits. The same analysis can be turned on its head to prove the opposite point -- in fact any point can be proven with this type of analysis. For instance: since peace leads to bigger profits for home building industry then the fact that we are at peace just proves that its the home building industry that really runs the show from behind the curtains!


Myth #5: Israel has caused the United States untold headaches in the Arab world by its intransigent policies.
Here is where I would disagree with VDH, at least to some degree. Our support for Israel has caused the US untold headaches. If we were to condemn Israel we would be much more popular with the Islamojawas. In fact, if we really want to be popular why don't we say that Israel has no right to exist at all? That would bring us the sympathy of a billion Muslims! See, this is what makes America unique in the world. France routinely denounces Israel because it is in her interest to do so. It is in America's interest, also, to condemn everything and anything that Israel does. Instead of doing what is in our interest, though, Americans choose to do the right thing--the moral thing. Its why I love America and why we are not just some other country. America does not always do the right thing, but neither do we do the wrong thing based solely on our interests. Usually, our foreign policy decisions can be explained by the convergence of morality and interest--as opposed to the foreign policies of most nations that can be explained in terms of interest only. The oddly wonderful thing about our support for Israel is that it can be explained solely in terms of morality. It is against our national interest, yet we do it anyway. God bless America!

Vacation from Myself

Islamic Blog Ads Back UP!

Is this a case of Jimmy Carter taking his message to the sinners at Playboy? Or is this just a case of a stupid Google ad-bot that searches pages for words related to Islam and then places ads related to Islam on those pages?

Because you know, I would never use the word Islam in vain just so my Google ads would link my anti-Islamist blog to Muslim sponsered sites that are sympathetic to Islam and that have good things to say about the Q'uran when I often say bad things about Islam so that when people visiting my anti-Islamist site would click on those Islamic ads therefore generating revenue for my web-host from the coffers of Islamic sites indirectly funded by a certain Islamic Kindgom therefore indirectly redirecting their wealth to us and maybe even to certain other anti-Islamic sites that might not be so sympathetic to Muslims on the West Bank or to other blasphemous sites that might even claim to be written by Allah himself or to my own blog that sometimes calls Muhammed a pedophile and has even been known to compare Muslims to Jawas and radical Muslims and Islamists calling for an Islamic State --modelled after the Islamic Republic of Iran or the Islamic State of Sudan or the Islamic boy-loving ass-pirate Taliban or the the Paki radical sharia loving Islamists-- Tusken Raiders or demeaning the Religion of Peace as the Religion of Peas and making the traditional Islamic color of green the official color of the anti-Islamist blog pea green because that might just be offensive to non-secular loving Muslims who might not just have a good sense of humor like all the Muslims I grew up with in my neighborhood where there were a lot of Muslims from Islamic countries who were very cool and were here because they fled the asshat Mullahs of the Islamic Republic or the religious fascists of that Islamic Kingdom and therefore were not Jawas because Jawas is a term saved for Muslims who create the sea for which Islamist Tusken Raiders are allowed to swim and the Muslims I knew growing up were cool and had come here fleeing the oppression of Sharia law and this one Muslim dude who was especially cool would always give me his burger on free In'n'Out Burger day because he was a good Muslim and wouldn't eat food that wasn't halal but he also would never want to force Sharia on the world but believed Muslims ought to choose to follow Islamic precepts unlilke that camel-loving jawa Muslim from a certain unnamed Kingdom that is ruled by a radical Islamic school of thought who stayed at my house in college and would talk all smack about how that unnamed Kingdom of Muslims was misunderstood by us non-Muslims because Islam was a religion of peace and Sharia would liberate all mankind from sin and the unhappiness caused by Western secularism and then he moved in with a bunch of fellow Muslims where I presume they could practice Islam the way they wanted and wouldn't have to tolerate a non-Muslim like me who didn't force his wife into subservience by making her cover her face with the veil which I guess his Islamic Muslim eyes were offended by and then I would deliver pizza to the house of Allah where all those jawa freak Muslims lived and you know what kind of pizza those Islamist freaking jerkwad hypocrite Muslim fanatic asshats would order? Europe is a 'Province of Islam'

From the 'Stating the Obvious' Department of the Imperial Undersecretariat of Propoganda comes this news gathered from our secret spy network of European resistance fighters:

ROME -- A new book by controversial journalist Oriana Fallaci that hit bookstores here Monday accuses Europe of having sold its soul to what she describes as an Islamic invasion.

Entitled "The Strength of Reason," ("La Forza della Ragione" in Italian), the book also accuses the Roman Catholic Church of being too weak before the Muslim world.

"Europe becomes more and more a province of Islam, a colony of Islam. And Italy is an outpost of that province, a stronghold of that colony," the book says. "In each of our cities lies a second city: a Muslim city, a city run by the Quran. A stage in the Islamic expansionism." ...

A group in France unsuccessfully sought to stop distribution of the book, while two other associations have requested that it carry a warning. ...

Describing Europe as "Eurabia" -- a mix of Europe and Arabia -- the Italian writer said the continent "has sold itself and sells itself to the enemy like a prostitute."

Written in the blunt style that is Fallaci's trademark, the 278-page book claims the Catholic Church keeps silent even when its symbols are offended by Muslims and before such practices as polygamy and torture.

The current invasion, Fallaci writes, is not carried out only by the "terrorists who blow up themselves along with skyscrapers or buses" but also by "the immigrants who settle in our home, and who, with no respect for our laws, impose their ideas, their customs, their God."

The book is dedicated to the victims of the March 11 terror attacks in Madrid.

Arab states should consider US proposals for democratic reform rather than rejecting them outright, the ruler of Qatar has said.

Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani also said on Monday Arabs could no longer use the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and security fears to justify delaying much needed political, social and economic change.

Also on Monday, Qatar said it feared a civil war could break out in Iraq and that the country was becoming a "fertile ground for terrorists".

"The developments in Iraq in the last few days are alarming and we fear that we are facing a civil war in Iraq reminding me of what happened in Afghanistan and Lebanon," Qatari Foreign Minister Shaikh Hamad bin Jasim Al Thani told reporters on the sidelines of the conference.

"We are worried about the cluster of resistance and terrorist organisations in Iraq which has become a fertile ground for these people to implement their extremist ideology," said the foreign minister.

Saudi Arabia Endorses Kucinich, Attempts to "Spaniardize" America

Saudi Arabia's manipulation of world oil prices is a way to influence the November elections and get someone--any one--other than Bush elected to office. If there is one thing Americans hate it is to have some mo-fo mess with our SUV loving culture. If the price of oil goes up, so does the price of gas, energy, airfare, transportation, and eventually even food! Like it or not, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the electorate blames the guy in office for any bad economic news. I believe that the Saudis are trying to effect the American economy in such a way as to get the "crusader" Bush ousted.
